Prodrive, the 12th team in F1 for 2008

Former BAR F1 team boss Dave Richards is set to return to Formula 1. His Prodrive motorsport group’s entry for the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship was accepted by FIA on friday and the existing 11 teams have retained their places in the series. A total of 22 entries were filed for the 2008 championship, with Trevor Carlin’s Carlin’s Carlin Motorsport and former Minardi boss Paul Stoddart were among those to miss out.

Since their formation in 1984, Prodrive have won more than 200 international rally and race events, including six World Rally Championship titles, five British Touring Car Championships and a GTS class win at Le Mans in 2003.#.

1000 downloads and counting

When I checked my mint today morning I found that the 3 column K2 style downloads has crossed the 1000 mark. Yes, the Basic three column k2 style I released 2 weeks back has been downloaded 1022 times as of writing this post. While I am still working on a new layout for my blog, I will try to release the 3 column K2 style for one of the svn releases soon. Thanx for all the people who downloaded it.

O2 Xda Atom

Today I picked my new O2 Xda Atom from the nearest Optus dealer, after been waiting for nearly 2 months since I ordered. The Xda Atom is a PDA-phone with Intel PXA272 416MHz processor, 2.7″ TFT LCD display, FM radio, 2-mega-pixel CMOS camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and runs on Windows Mobile 5.0. I will be installing some applications soon and test it completely and will write a full review soon.

Mission To Destroy IE

Calling themselves as political activists, a Massachusetts group has launched an effort to inveigle Internet Explorer users to switch to the Firefox Web browser.

In addition to talking up the strengths of Firefox, the site highlights a new Google AdSense program that offers $1 to online publishers for every referred netizen who downloads Firefox. The group identified itself as “four friends” on ExplorerDestroyer.com and said that Firefox is one of the most important software applications in the world as “it can play a big part in determining the future of the Web.”

According to the Firefox Four, the serendipitous announcement of Google’s Firefox referral program has set the stage for the open-source browser “to take back the Web.” .#.

Brilliant Schumi and Ferrari Victorious at Imola

Michael Schumacher won the San Marino Grand Prix after withstanding the pressure from Championship leader Fernando Alonso in the second half of the race. While Schumacher took the chequered flag, it really was a case of a race lost for Renault as much as a race won for Ferrari. The result was Schumacher’s 85th Grand Prix success, the first competitive win since Suzuka 2004. Michael Schumacher ended the Renault’s winning streak, holding off the fast charging Renault of Fernando Alonso for almost final 26 laps. (more…)

9rules Network

I’ve been waiting for the next round of submissions for 9rules Network and they have finally announced that May 17th, 2006 is the official date for round four submissions into the 9rules Network. I missed the last round submissions, but this time I am looking forward to submit my blog for the first time. I will be ready for the deadline.

Schumi, the greatest qualifier ever

Michael Schumacher made F1 history on Saturday when he broke Ayrton Senna’s pole position record in Imola, the scene of Ayrton Senna’s tragic death 12 years ago. Schumacher, who has won this race six times in the past not only achieved this feat at the very track where the Brazilian claimed his final P1 slot but also infront of Tifosi at Ferrari‘s home. Michael Schumacher became statistically the greatest qualifier, who now has 66 poles to his name, clocked a 1:22.795 to beat Jenson Button to the P1 slot. Barrichello is third in his Honda, ahead of Felipe Massa and Alonso is only 5th in his Renault. More about qualifying soon..
